Pumpkin Carving

Eleanor and Henry had fun this week getting ready for Halloween.  Early in the week, Eleanor, Henry and Mom went costume shopping, and then on Saturday, we did some pumpkin carving.  Mom decorated Henry’s pumpkin with a marker, and Eleanor used “Mr. Potato Head” pieces to decorate hers.  It took some help from Dad pre-punching holes in the pumpkin with a screwdriver, but Eleanor choose where to put each piece, and she really enjoyed taking the pieces out and putting them back in again in different combinations.

Henry perfected his sitting and standing this week, and it is now second nature for him.  Mom got some cute pics of him standing in his crib by himself for the first time via the baby monitor, to match the one from last Sunday where he was sitting up for the first time.  Henry also had a photo op with Dad wearing matching giraffe shirts.  I’m pretty sure we have a similar picture of Eleanor and Dad – I’ll have to dig it up for a fun comparison shot.  Henry and Eleanor had their first join bath this week – Eleanor said that she had fun doing it, but said that she wanted to bath alone when we asked her on Sunday.  I think it had more to do with getting a few more minutes of playtime than anything else.

Eleanor had a big weekend – on Saturday we turned her crib into a toddler bed!  She had been asking about it for a while, and seemed pretty excited about it.  Her first night in the new bed was uneventful, and she stayed in it all night, and didn’t get out until Dad came in the morning to get her up.  She also stayed in bed for her whole nap on Sunday afternoon.  Saturday was her first time decorating a pumpkin, and Sunday she and Mom went to a play – “Harold and the Purple Crayon”.

  1. so in the group shot in seats at the purple crayon play, is the guy with the papers covering his face in the row behind you some weirdo or just a fan of kid plays?
