Henry and Eleanor had multiple Valentine’s Day celebrations this week. First was a party at Frankie’s house, where Eleanor greatly enjoyed a red frosted cupcake, and Henry made continuous attempts to climb the stairs. Next, Eleanor’s preschool had a party, and Henry got to join in. Eleanor made a “mailbox” and got cards from all of her classmates. Eleanor also got a giant sugar cookie, and poor Henry was stuck with heart shaped crackers and cheese.
On Saturday we went down to Navy Pier and the Children’s Museum. I think Eleanor’s favorite part was the pretend bus that she could drive, complete with a stoplight that she could see out the window. Henry’s favorite was the red racecar where he could reach the steering wheel standing up.
Henry and Eleanor both decided that this would be a week for big messes, with Henry unrolling a whole roll of toilet paper, and Eleanor dumping a bag of pretzel crumbs and a box of playing cards. But the biggest mess was Eleanor dumping over her potty while getting up (both #1 and #2). Now she likes to pretend that it happens to her dolls when they use the potty. To cap off the week of messes, Eleanor grabbed and “resorted” several stacks of receipts that Mom had just finished organizing.
Henry wowed us this week when he was able to repeatedly catch a big rubber ball thrown to him. At first I thought that it was by accident, but I kept doing it and not only did he keep catching it, but he would watch me and get his hands ready when I started to throw it.

I think that Henry in ths last picture sort of sums it up…. “Whew! It was a great week!”
