Eleanor and Henry didn’t get outside too much this week – suffering from a slow to arrive spring here. Eleanor is itching to break out her spring clothes, and this week has been putting on short sleeve shirts as often as she can. Currently, her record is 9 – meaning that she had 9 shirts on all at once. Even Monkey can’t beat that with doll clothes. Amazingly, she does it all by herself, with no help from Mom or Dad. She has also been fond of her warm hat, which makes for some funny pictures. Both kids have rediscovered the sit-n-spin, Eleanor now likes to stand on it and spin around while saying “Look at Me!”, and Henry sits and giggles while Mom or Dad spin him around. In a sure sign that Eleanor is picking up phrases from preschool, yesterday she told me to come sit next to her on the green playrug, because it would be warmer for my bottom. Ha! Eleanor is working on spelling her name – she will get it right about half of the time – the other half she misses the A but gets the rest of the letters right.
Henry is starting to make progress with his sounds – he has added a number of “first syllables” that have meaning, like “Dou” for Down and “Cu” for Cut (meaning he wants his food cut into smaller pieces). He also got out a “Puh” when pointing at a picture of Papa. He has also become obsessed with the bathroom sink – whenever we tell Eleanor to wash her hands, Henry tries to beat her into the bathroom so that he can turn on the sink and play with the water. He also likes to brush his teeth and comb his hair.
