Happy Birthday Dad!

Eleanor and Henry celebrated Dad’s birthday this week – multiple celebrations with multiple cupcake sessions definitely added to the fun. Eleanor continues to play the role of “Mom”, insisting that actual Mom is now “Grandma”. She likes to tell Henry when he is breaking the rules but also jumps at the chance to help him with things that he can’t quite do yet. Uncle B put Eleanor down to bed this week for the first time – and it sounds like she convinced him of a few “allowed activities”, but he didn’t bite when she told him that she usually sleeps in her chair.

Henry started saying “Henry” this week with two syllables instead of his old “huh” noise – it sounds a bit like “he-free”. He breaks out more and more phrases each day. He really enjoyed the new stamp pad that mom purchased, both he and Eleanor love to make full hand prints with it.

On the weekend we had a fun visit and dinner with Uncle B, Lala and Tia. Eleanor selected Tia to read her a bedtime story. Both kids got haircuts – Eleanor had been asking to get one, but afterword decided that she didn’t like it. On Sunday night we went to the circus, and they were both entranced. The show was timed right during dinner, so the kids ended up eating fries, nacho chips, soft pretzels and popcorn for dinner :) Eleanor was most impressed with the Elephants and the trapeze artists. She wanted to know if she could ride the Elephant, and she told me se wanted to try the “swing”. Henry was most impressed with the tigers – he wanted to go inside the cage and pet them. We left at intermission because bedtime was quickly approaching, but we did make a quick detour up the escalator on our way out – which of course ended up being one of the things that Eleanor said she liked best.
