This week Eleanor travelled to Aspen for her first ski week! Well, she didn’t actually go skiing, but maybe next year ? Eleanor travelled like a champ, without really any crying at all, and slept for most of the flight. She received numerous complements on her “Future Ski Bunny” travelling outfit. Eleanor and Dad tried to have a fun lunch in the park – but there were no tables that the portable high chair could clip on to, and there wasn’t enough shade to take her out of the car seat, so we ended up just having lunch back at the house. Eleanor did make it to Johnny McGuires – for what I’m sure will be the first of many trips ?
Besides vacation, Eleanor has been focused on a few new skills this week. Most exciting is that she can now make a sound when she claps. She surprised herself with that little trick, and has since been clapping up a storm. She also has developed a preference for eating her “puffs” in two to three stages. Stage one includes holding the puff in her mouth while she bites off about half. Stage two sometimes further divides the remaining puff in two, and other times finishes off the puff. Stage three involves trying to eat the remaining ¼ puff – with a 50% success rate (it’s really small by then, and hard to grab). Eleanor is also starting to show some interest in crawling – we haven’t had any actual forward motion yet, but she is enjoying rolling and being on her tummy more now, and every now and then will perform a swimming stroke with her arms that I think is the precursor to an “army crawl”.
