Go Cubs!

Wow, we had a super fun week welcoming up cousin Paige for a visit. Eleanor and Henry had a blast exploring the Hancock Tower with her, and really like it when she read them stories. Henry graciously gave up his room for Paige, and he moved into Eleanor’s room. They both had a blast, but they didn’t get too much sleep….On Tuesday they were still up having a two person “dance party” at 10:00! On Thursday we had an excellent soccer class – Eleanor made a deal with Mom that if she could bring Monkey to soccer, she would listen and participate in all the drills – and it worked! Not only did Eleanor run all of the drills with full enthusiasm, Monkey did the drills too – Ha! Henry also did a great job at soccer – after Dad sat on the bench he did each of the drills, even building cone towers all by himself! Thursday also brought a fun visit to Lala’s house, where Eleanor and Lala planted a seed for a bit of a science experiment.

On Friday Eleanor and Henry went to their first Cubs game. Not surprisingly, the food was the biggest hit, with Eleanor hitting the popcorn and pretzels hard, and Henry taking down popcorn, pretzels and ice cream, and even cracking and eating shelled peanuts! He loved that he could just drop the shells onto the floor! He also tried Uncle B’s lemon chill, but he didn’t love that one. Alas, no malt cups – I’m not sure I ever made it through a game as a kid without at least sharing a malt cup….

We rounded out our crazy month of birthday parties with parties at Pump it Up on both Saturday and Sunday. Henry is really getting the hang of the bouncy houses, and I think has finally decided that they are fun again.

Packed in with all that fun was a big birthday celebration for Mom! We went to Sweet Mandy B’s and everyone picked out their own sweet treat – Henry got a purple cupcake, Eleanor a peanut butter cookie with a chocolate kiss in the middle, Dad got a snickerdoodle cupcake, and the Birthday Girl got a slice of white cake with sprinkles.
