Eleanor really surprised us this week with a whole host of new tricks. We knew that she was able to sit up on her own – and this week we finally caught her in action. She does it by getting up on her hands and knees, and then pushing backwards with her hands and leaning to one side until she gets all the way back onto her bottom. Very clever. Eleanor also made some progress in the crawling department this week – she can definitely make forward progress now when she wants to – but she has to really be motivated. Currently, a cell phone, a video camera or a nearby cat are the most likely to get her up and going. She isn’t fast enough to catch Zapa yet, but I’m guessing that soon she will be giving her a run for her money. I spent part of Saturday putting together some gates :) .
The most exciting trick, however, is standing up. Eleanor can now pull herself up to a standing position. Momma found a perfect height box that allows Eleanor to first get onto her knees, then lean over onto her feet, and finally pop upright. Soon we will have some video of her in action. Till then, you can enjoy this video clip of her discovering how to make her “flowerpot” play music.
