Henry and Eleanor welcomed the month of March in with a relaxing week at home. Henry is flashing a lot more smiles now – but you have to be quick with the camera to catch them. If we were still using film cameras – we would have several rolls worth of non-smiles for each photo with a smile. He has been interested in Eleanor’s old favorite, Mr. Swirls, and will follow him from side to side, but only if he is moving slowly.
Eleanor is continuing her interest in baby care, and now wants to wipe and diaper just about every toy that she picks up. Needless to say, we have had to stock up on wipes! We can’t even fool her with the same wipe over and over again, because if it is dried out, she just runs off with it and puts it into the trash can :) Speaking of running – Eleanor can run! It’s been a long time coming, but she now definitely moves with both feet off the ground at top speed. Next up – learning how to jump. Eleanor has been very interested in colors lately, very excited to label colors that she sees. There were also lots of new words this week: airplane, ga ga (grandma) and ga pa (grandpa – although this one often comes out backwards, as in pa ga), susan, the numbers one and two, (and then in a joke that Aunt Susan may or not find funny, I got Eleanor to say Too Too while pointing at a picture of her – which is what I called her when I was a baby), Yak (as in the animal), brown, elmo, and I’m sure I’m missing a few. We didn’t get it on video, but she went through the whole alphabet as part of a song with Mom, and made the correct sound for almost all of the letters (a is for apple, ah, ah, apple, etc.)
