Henry turned six months old this week! He passed his six month checkup with flying colors despite his lack of progress in the rolling over department. He has been trying lots of new foods lately, including bananas, carrots, peas and prunes. So far, carrots seem to be his favorite. You can see him get really excited and open wide and swoop in with his neck. While Eleanor had her “Happy Eating Noise”, Henry seems to have a “Happy Eating Dance” – swaying from side to side as he gums down the carrots. He has also been making lots of progress sitting, and now sits fairly well in the booster seat for meals. His standing is coming right along too, with a few short stints standing while holding on to something all by himself.
Both kiddos enjoyed a visit from Grandma, Grandpa and Great Grandma, in town to celebrate Uncle B’s birthday. Then, on Sunday we went out for breakfast and a visit to the grocery store, where Eleanor loves to ride the escalator. Eleanor had been asking to go “out” for breakfast all week.
Eleanor has been working on her reading this week – she loves to read stories to her various stuffed friends. She has a surprising number of books memorized – sometimes we will catch her reading word for word what is on the page, other times she will reenact what Mom or Dad does while reading that particular book. She also became more interested in her utensils again this week – using the spoon and fork for entire courses again instead of her hands. She has also pulled out a few songs all by herself, including “Ring around the Rosie” and “Twinkle twinkle little star”. Since she got to feed Henry some bananas last week, she has been putting a bib on Monkey, Baby and Elmo and pretend feeding them with the same spoon.
