Henry celebrated his eight month birthday this week, and with it finally crossed off the “roll over from back to tummy” milestone. Mom found him on his stomach during his afternoon nap, and since then he has been rolling over like a madman. In fact, tonight when I put him down for bed, he immediately rolled over onto his tummy. He will also roll over to get a toy that he is interested in – and he has been showing more of an opinion lately on the toys that he plays with. He will now protest if you take away a toy and don’t give it back – even if you replace it with a different one (one of Eleanor’s favorite tricks) and will purposely select one toy over another when reaching out. Henry also ate an apple for the first time this week. He really enjoyed sucking on a larger piece, but didn’t as much care for actually chewing and swallowing smaller pieces. On Sunday, he got in the neighbor’s crazy coupe, and Eleanor pushed him around a bit. Hopefully this is foreshadowing future sibling cooperation.
Eleanor rode her tricycle a few times this week – although she usually requires the pushing adult to also wear a bike helmet, which makes for some excellent photo opportunities. She has also been into helping Mom make her sandwich for lunch every day – she has gotten so good that she can recite off the ingredients by memory, and does almost all the assembly work herself.
