This week Henry and Eleanor escaped for some warm weather fun. Neither particularly enjoyed the ocean – Eleanor several times asked me to turn off the waves – but both enjoyed the pool. Henry liked the beach, and got a big kick out of burying his feet in the sand and then finding them again. Eleanor asked for a beach with “no sand” :) Henry also got a kick out of the baby pool that had some fountains in it – he would put his hand in the fountain, splash himself, and then giggle. This was Henry’s first international trip, and his first time in the Caribbean. He wasn’t particularly fond of the airplane flight. He didn’t get much of a chance to work on his walking this week – so we will have to focus on that next week.
Eleanor learned to say “Dominican Republic” and “Puerto Rico” (our layover spot), and was an excellent traveler. She took the airplane flights in stride, and liked listening for the Captain to make announcements. She liked the fish and flamingos in the pond next to our hotel, but was surprisingly unimpressed with the family of peacocks that hung out near our room (once right on our patio!). She loved hanging out with her cousins and family, and doled out lots of fist bumps. In the pool, her favorite activity was to search out a raft that we could borrow and then float around on it. She didn’t like sunscreen or bug spray, but loved that Grandma was always ready at the end of lunches and dinners to explore the dessert table.
