Eleanor and Henry had a week of indoor activities this week as some very cold weather rolled in. Eleanor had two more days of preschool this week – and drop off time is getting a little better. Instead of crying or screaming, she just gives Mom a sad face with a quivering lip. The teacher says she is doing great though, and says that after Mom leaves she cheers up and participates in all the class activities. At home, Eleanor has graduated from the 12 piece puzzle to the 24 piece puzzle. She hasn’t done the larger one by herself yet, but is getting close. One night at dinner, Eleanor had some sweet potato tater tots, which she was excited about but she called them “teeter totters” :) Speaking of eating, her current favorite food is peas and corn (mixed together), and she now likes to ask others what their favorite color/shape/book/etc. is (she learned this from soccer class). Eleanor also had fun doing her first Gel Jams (thanks Grandma and Grandpa!) and made a nice Valentine’s day themed montage in our front window. She also built a Lego tower all by herself, I took Henry upstairs for a nap, and when I came down she had two windows and about ten other bricks all stacked up. Eleanor has been very into singing lately, and has added “Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “This Old Man” to her list of songs that she can sing all the way through all by herself.
Henry has officially converted to walking. He can now stand up from a seated position without pulling up on anything, and has pretty much given up crawling. Sometimes Mom can even get him to spin in a circle and walk backwards. He can get on and off his rocking horse all by himself, and can also climb up the slide by himself, although he hasn’t quite mastered coming down. Henry is starting to enjoy standing in the kitchen tower and watching Mom and Dad make meals, he even managed to share it with Eleanor during one lunch prep. Speaking of meals, Henry ate a full pear for the first time this week, as well as peanut butter right off the spoon.
