Eleanor and Henry took a surprise visit to see Grandma, Grandpa, and the Martins this week – and it was the first time that either one had been to the Martins’ house! They both had fun playing outside in the snow – Eleanor loved the slide, making snow angels and running in the yard, while Henry took to the swing. Henry was so bundled up that he couldn’t walk very well, but he also managed one snow angel.
At home this week, Henry went to his first swimming class. He was very interested in the pool and participated in all of the activities, including one underwater dunk. Both Henry and Eleanor have been very into the new beanbag game that Lala invented – not only do they enjoy riding the beanbags while Lala pulls, they both try to give various stuffed animals rides as well. Henry has been showing more interest in books lately, and while he still prefers books with lots of flaps, he will now sometimes make it through a book without any flaps. He is really growing fast as well, he surprised me the other day reaching up and opening the microwave door on the play kitchen – it wasn’t that long ago that he had to stand on his tip toes just to see the burners.
Eleanor is getting used to preschool, and drop off time is slowly becoming less sad. Her teacher gives her good progress reports, and we get pictures of her participating in art projects and dancing and holding hands with the other kids. She apparently especially likes the art projects. She made both Mom and Dad laugh this week by requesting “Privacy” while in the bathroom.
