Eleanor had quite a week of firsts as we traveled to Florida for vacation. The hardest part of the trip was definitely dinner time. We ate out every night, and prior to this week Eleanor had only eaten out a few times. We were late for our reservation 4 out of 6 nights:
26th – Late but not our fault (picking up Uncle B at the airport). Got our food to go.
27th – Late, but ordered and finished with everyone. Success!
28th – Even later (had to order via phone).
29th – Early! (left early)
30th – On time, but suffered our worst meltdown of the week during dinner :(
31st – Late (I probably spent a total of about 20 minutes in the restaurant).
We tried lots of different tactics, but Amy and I never managed to eat uninterrupted, and we usually sprinted out of the restaurant as soon as we had both finished. Amy even had to get her Key Lime Pie to go :). We had late bedtimes almost every night, but Ellie managed to sleep pretty well in the hotel. My favorite part of the trip was our first walk on the beach. It was a little chilly, but Eleanor loved every minute of it. She took everything in, with her eyes wide and hands spread eagle the whole time. She only got fussy at the end, when we were walking into the wind. Amy’s favorite part was eating Key Lime Pie at every dinner, and sometimes at lunch.
Firsts this week:
throwing a toy
playing patty cake
seeing the ocean
walking on a beach
seeing a seagull (or possibly any other bird, for that matter)
sitting at the pool
wearing a sunhat
staying in a hotel
listening to waves
seeing dolphins
wearing a bathing suit
wearing a bathing suit backwards (photo included)
getting in a pool
putting our feet in the sand
putting our feet in the ocean
New Years (didn’t make it up till midnight)
Amy and I went a little crazy with the photos this week – I’ll let them tell the rest of the story. Enjoy!
