Eleanor and Henry had a fun week of activities. We started the week with Mom and Eleanor in matching outfits, and Henry determined to sit on the floor potty. We all went to a swim class, where Henry is perfecting his blue whale impression each time the instructor dips his head underwater. However he never seems to drink the water, just keeps his mouth wide open for it to fill up and then drain back out again. Several times this week Henry has gotten onto Eleanor’s floor potty – after which he reaches for a book and pretends to read it just like Eleanor does when she is sitting there. He has also been very interested in the toy phone, running around with it up to his ear. Henry’s top two molars are coming in nicely, and lately he has been obsessed with his toothbrush turned chew toy.
During soccer class, mama looked the other way for all of three seconds and Henry had disappeared. She was fully panicked and was starting to run through the other soccer fields looking for him when she saw a tiny little person crouched in a perfect soccer stance on the field of the three- and four-year-olds. Henry had somehow walked/crawled over/around a large two-foot high barrier to the other soccer field and joined the older kids team. He was kneeling down just like them with them and joined them in their mid-scrimmage huddle. I’m sure everyone was looking around wondering where this miniature soccer player came from (he was dressed in his track pants and blue shirt that matches all the other kids uniforms, which is why mama couldn’t find him for a few minutes since he was camoflauged in with everyone else). It would have been a great picture op except mama had to get him off the field quickly as he was holding up the soccer scrimmage.
We went to a birthday party for Eleanor’s twin friends at “Pump It Up”, a bouncy castle playland, and Eleanor loved it. She especially liked the big slides, and later told me that she wanted to go there again. Henry didn’t like it as much, but did enjoy the cupcake at the end. On Sunday we all went into the back yard and built a snowman. Henry was not very impressed, partly because he had trouble maneuvering in his snowsuit, but Eleanor was very entertained. She helped by bringing over snow, and giggled when she touched its nose. Uncle B capped off the weekend with a surprise visit, which Eleanor declared her favorite part of the day (even beating out the snowman!).
