Eleanor and Henry had a fun visit this week from Mimi and Papa! Early in the week, I asked Eleanor what she was most excited about doing with Mimi and Papa, and she said “With Papa, I want to put the beads in the trashcan, with Mimi I want to do ‘Bottoms First’ down the slide, and with Lala I want to play the night night game”. There were lots of bucket rides for both Eleanor and Henry, and lots of fun new “Dora the Explorer” toys and books for Eleanor.
Uncle B and Breanne got their first shot at babysitting this week, when Mom and Dad went out for the evening. Mom got both kids in bed before she left, but I still think it was a momentous occasion. Auntie Susan famously said that Mackenzie could come stay with Uncle B by herself once she turned 18. So Eleanor and Henry are 16 years ahead of schedule!
Eleanor and Mom have been doing a “Letter of the Day” each morning for the past two weeks, and Eleanor is really starting to get into it. She usually comes up with a few words by herself, and then has fun guessing more words with clues from Mom and Dad. She likes to imitate Mom and Dad by emphasizing the first letter of each word and sounding it out to see if it starts with the right letter.
Henry is finally getting his matching bottom front tooth to even out the bottom row. His back molars are coming in as well, which have unfortunately been keeping him a bit uncomfortable for the last week or two. He continues to work on his verbal skills, and gets more expressive each day, but hasn’t come up with any new words this week.
