Visitors!

Eleanor and Henry had a fun week visiting with their cousins. Jennifer, Paige, Fiona and Amelia were in town and had fun exploring the city. Eleanor and Henry joined in on trips to the Aquarium and Navy Pier, but had to take another couple days off due to an eye infection that Henry caught, ironically the day after we went in for his regular checkup. Henry continues to make progress with his vocals, and has recently added some more animal sounds to his repertoire, including Moo and Ooh-Ooh-Ahh-Ahh. He figured out how to scoot on his wheelie bug this week, which he was very excited about.

Eleanor has been very into her dolls recently, and loves to dress and undress them. A typical outfit for Monkey consists of a diaper, two pairs of underwear, two pairs of pants, three shirts and a dress. The rest of the dolls and friends have to fight for the remainder of the clothes. Interestingly, Monkey typically only gets dressed for her “naps”, and then when she wakes up all of the clothes come off. Monkey likes to nap in the green Lego box, while Hobbes and Gray peek in and do a tap dance on the lid. Eleanor doesn’t nap much anymore, and now has learned to listen for Mom in the upstairs hallway and then say “Mama, come get me, I’m awake”. Eleanor had her first haircut this week, and she was very well behaved. She choose “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, which surprised both Mom and Dad. She was originally disappointed that she got the taxi cab chair instead of the Thomas the train chair, but she settled right in and didn’t even flinch when the stylist use the hairdryer. On the way home, she wanted Lala to sit in front, and Dada to “sit in the Way Back” (i.e. the cargo hold). Eleanor was very into learning peoples’ initials this week, after we taught her the word initial one day when “i” was our letter of the day.

Uncle B wrapped up the week with a Sunday morning visit, during which Eleanor referred to him as “That Man” or “That Little Boy”. For example, “I want Daddy to play with me and That Man to play with Henry”, or “I don’t know when That Little Boy is going to leave”. She managed to not use his name for the entire visit, but didn’t turn down his help getting Monkey and Gray dressed.
