Eleanor and Henry celebrated the end of April appropriately with rain coats and boots, stomping in puddles. We did manage to get to the park a few times between the showers, and Henry has really been enjoying the trips. He loves to walk around and explore the park, and especially loves to walk by himself on the sidewalks to and fro. He keeps adding to his vocabulary with first syllable sounds, which if you know what he is trying to say are pretty good. He spent the entire park time on Saturday in the sandbox, so I took him out into our back yard to play in our sandbox that afternoon and he dug it (literally!). He is also getting very interested in whatever is “Eleanor’s”. This week during lunch while Eleanor was at preschool, he kept grunting and pointing at the spoons. Mom tried several spoons before giving him the red one that Eleanor always uses for breakfast. With that he stopped making noise and got a big grin on his face.
Eleanor has been slowly giving up her nap over the past few weeks, but this week she has hit a whole new level. Twice Mom has gone into her room to find her without a diaper (or anything else on the bottoms…) but wearing three or four tops and digging in her closet for more. She will stand at her door and try to figure out the “child proof” knob saying “Open Sesame!” On Sunday, after giving Mom a puppet show via the baby monitor, she figured it out and marched into Mom’s room and said “Hello?”. Mom said, “Did Dad let you out?”, and she said, “No, he is downstairs. I just turned and turned the knob…”. Eleanor was very cute this week getting Henry up from his nap – he started crying and before Mom could get down the hall and open the door, Eleanor had already gone in, pulled up the poof and started reading him a book. She also learned to spell her name this week – stay tuned for the video!
