Eleanor and Henry had a great week with their cousins Mackenzie, Jack and Ben visiting, plus Grandpa and Grandma and Auntie Susan. Eleanor had a blast going to American Girl for tea, and “the boys” stayed home and hit the park and Potbellys. Eleanor took both Monkey and her doll Gray to tea, but Monkey got all the attention, and when it was time to pick out a purchase from the store, it was Monkey who got a new bathing suit and a guitar. Henry especially loved riding the tire swing with Jack and Ben, We also got to go down to Navy Pier and ride the Ferris Wheel, which was a big hit. The first two times that I put Henry down after the ride he ran right back to the entrance and grunted that he wanted to ride again. Henry and Ben got to ride the “Thomas the Train” ride too, but in the surprise of the weekend Eleanor said she didn’t want to ride. I think she had overdosed on fun at that point – right after that we stopped for lunch and she just put her head down on the table to rest.
We started the week with a new toy for Eleanor and Henry. Eleanor got a scooter, and Henry a new lawnmower. Henry was immediately more interested in the scooter, but throughout the week he really got to like the lawnmower. Both kids love the scooter and there is always a race for it when we head outside to see who will ride it first.
