Eleanor and Henry had a fun week where mealtimes focused around a fun box of cupcakes that arrived courtesy of Uncle B. The whole family enjoyed sampling all the fun new flavors! Henry has been working on saying his colors – he now has a pretty good “purple” and a medium “orange” to go along with his “blue” and “green”. His run is getting faster and faster, and he is dying to figure out how to jump off the end of the slide like Eleanor does. Both Eleanor and Henry got a kick out of riding on the Michigan snuggie this week – and they added a new trick Eleanor calls “skiing” where they both stand up as we pull the snuggie. This usually results in a lot of giggling from Henry, followed by a fall. Eleanor has really been into her (now much too small) red polka dot dress. You will see it appears in several days’ photos.
One afternoon, while Momma was working and Eleanor was playing and Henry was just waking up from nap, she told Mama “You keep working Mama, I’ll get Henry up” and proceeded to go into Henry’s room and “read” him a story until Mom came in a minute later. Of course, she also tells Henry things like “If you don’t sit in your chair you will have to go back into the high chair” – so it is hard to say if he motherly instincts are a plus or minus for Henry. Eleanor took a nap in her bed today for the first time in months – maybe this nap will return? In general, she is pretty good at both nap and bedtime, although she is working on her “negotiation” skills. She threw me for a good guilt trip tonight when as I was telling her that I wasn’t going to come back for any more “just one more…” requests at bedtime when she asked me, “Can I wipe my tears on my blanket?”. How do you walk out of the room after that?!?.
