Grandma and Grandpa

Eleanor and Henry enjoyed a visit from Grandma and Grandpa this week. We had a fun excursion to the zoo, where both Henry and Eleanor enjoyed the train ride and the carousel. Henry made a special trip at the end up to see the giraffes, and was very excited about seeing the giraffes tongue as he munched some leaves. We also had lots of fun at home with Eleanor playing “Drop Grandma off at school” and “Follow the Leader” and Henry showing Grandpa his trains and Legos.

Henry is adding to his vocabulary on a daily basis now, some new fun words include “happy”, “sure” and “I do” said with perfect Eleanor mimicking inflection, “please”, “excuse me”, “2”, “5” and “Elmo”. He entertained Eleanor and Dad with a fun game of “hide the shape” with the shape sorter, and had Mom laughing out loud when he triumphantly handed her a toy that Eleanor had been searching for the previous day. He is definitely enjoying his new communication skills. Henry also had a “surprise” scooter ride this week. He was pushing the scooter around and managed to get to the top of the little hill in our driveway – at which point he turned around and started to push it down – but of course it accelerated down the hill by itself, and he managed to stay on and neither fall nor crash all the way down the hill. He received much applause from Mom and several neighbors that were watching.

Eleanor completed a maze this week with a pencil – she perfectly stayed on course when the maze resembled a city street, but on the next page when it was just black lines she took a few “shortcuts” to get to the finish line.
