Eleanor and Henry had a great Halloween this week! They both dressed up to match their favorite stuffed friends – Eleanor a monkey and Henry a dog. Henry wasn’t sold on the whole costume at first, but the event grew on him. By the time we were actually trick or treating, he was having a blast walking in the rain and stomping in puddles. Going up to actual houses for candy was a side activity at best, and was eventually completely abandoned in favor of more puddle stomping. Eleanor had fun going up to houses for a little while, but the half flight of stairs up to each door eventually wore on her, and she lost interest as well. She did love Uncle B’s costume – and drew quite a crowd as she dragged it through the street. Who knew monkeys liked apples? Henry had quite the love hate relationship with the apple, he couldn’t stop looking at it while Uncle B was inside, but for every step that Uncle B took, Henry took one to maintain his distance, and much preferred to have Dad between the two.
On the weekend we had a fun visit from Grandma, Auntie Susan and Mackenzie Jack and Ben! We had a blast hanging out with everyone. Saturday was our big day on the town, and we explored the nature museum. We got to see snakes and turtles and lizards, and then got to put a turtle on our laps! Grandma and Jack were the only ones brave enough to let a snake crawl on them, but Henry was super excited to watch them. The biggest hit was probably the coin roll – everyone had a blast watching coins orbit their way to the bottom of the table.
Henry learned to say the word “meow” this week – and he was quite proud of himself. He has probably said it 200 times since he first figured it out on Thursday – and always with a big smile on his face. Mom and Dad are both a little sad that his previous cat noise is on the way out, but it sure is fun to watch him learn new things.
