Back to routine

Eleanor and Henry got back to routine this week, although a little later than scheduled. Due to some incredible cold, all of our normal events were cancelled Monday and Tuesday. Things were back to normal by Thursday though, and both Eleanor and Henry had great sessions at swimming and soccer. These days Eleanor is smiling and laughing with her swimming coach, and when Henry and I take a peek over at her lane during class she gives us big smiles and waves. Henry is starting to pick up the idea of soccer class – he is still a bit hesitant, but has started doing some running by himself, and he is by far the star of the class in three key areas – making cone towers, clean up time, and pointing out the color Purple on the parachute at the end of class.

We reorganized the house a bit this week, making one large play area in the big room by moving the dining table. This really opened things up for the trampoline and the tent, both of which were big favorites this week. We also cleared a spot for a kitchen table – which means we will soon be moving mealtime to a real table!

Grandma and Grandpa mailed us Elmo who was inadvertently left behind at their house, and “Lamby” came along for the ride to keep him company. Eleanor was thrilled and has kept Lamby close all week, including sleeping with her. Also in the package were Christmas presents from Mackenzie, Jack and Ben – stuffed friends that project stars onto the ceiling. Both Eleanor and Henry love these new additions, Henry especially can’t wait to get the lights out at bedtime so that he can see the stars.

On a final note for the week – Eleanor is going to try not wearing a diaper at bedtime again tonight. Mom and Dad are both hoping that this will be the end of diapers for her!
