Henry and Eleanor both started the week with a visit to the dentist. Both did great in the chair, and received solid reports. We do need to work on introducing some real toothpaste – which has been pretty funny so far. Watching Henry and Eleanor try to learn to spit out the toothpaste has kept Mom and Dad entertained. On Thursday both kids took a cupcake decorating class, which quickly turned into a cupcake eating class Henry especially enjoyed the icing parts.
On Saturday we went to see the “Three Little Pigs” play at a local theater. We told the kids about it a few days before, and realized that they didn’t know the story of the three little pigs. So Mom and Dad each gave their own abbreviated version, and apparently our Big Bad Wolf was a little scary because Eleanor then said she didn’t want to go see a play with any “bad people”. That night and again Saturday morning Eleanor reiterated that she didn’t want to go, and was quite upset about this wolf character. We told her that she didn’t have to watch the play if she didn’t want to, and that she could play with Dad while Henry and Mom went. We ended up all going, and I asked Eleanor several times before and during the play and she kept saying that she wanted to keep watching. I think she ended up enjoying it, although three of four times during the play the Wolf character ended up coming right up next to our seats, and each time Eleanor jumped and turned away into my lap.
Sunday brought a fun visit from Grandma, and the kids had a great time playing with her and putting up the Easter Gel Jams that she brought with her, not to mention the oatmeal scotchie special treats that also arrived in Grandma’s suitcase.
