Eleanor and Henry had a fun Easter weekend visiting with Grandma and Grandpa, along with Mackenzie, Jack, Ben, Mahlia and Brooke. We dyed eggs, found baskets and had lots of outdoor playtime. Eleanor decided she wanted to sleep in the big bed with Mom every night instead of her caterpillar bed – we’ve been talking to her about upgrading her own room to a real bed and I think she is getting ready for that. Both Eleanor and Henry loved the riding toys that Grandma and Grandpa have at their house, and both made impressive improvements over the weekend steering and peddling. They also loved gathering pinecones, Eleanor spend about 30 minutes filling three different buckets full of different size and shape pinecones. We also launched a model rocket that all of the kids enjoyed. The first launch ended up in the lake requiring a raft rescue by Dad (cold!), and the second landed high in a tree such that we couldn’t retrieve it. Eleanor has been really excited about rockets and space recently, so she was extra excited watching the launches. Both kids were smiling this year when finding their Easter baskets, which is a nice change from last year when they were both sad. They also both liked the Easer bunny more – Eleanor actually asked to go up to him (her?) and give him a hug. We had some beautiful spring weather, and Sunday afternoon broke out the blanket for a quick picnic.
Henry has really been enjoying soccer class recently, although we haven’t played go racecar go in a while, which is one of his favorites. Eleanor is a bit hit and miss – she is an excellent dribbler with the ball, but sometimes isn’t excited about participating. After soccer on Thursday, Eleanor, Henry and Mom went to the park and ran into one of Eleanor’s classmates, Eloise. The three of them had blast playing together – and it was super fun to see Eleanor playing with a classmate.
