Eleanor was super excited this week when her bunk beds arrived. She has been doing great sleeping in them so far, and Henry asks at least once a day if he can sleep on the top bunk. They have taken to reading their goodnight stories in the top bunk – when Lala is over she stands on the floor and reads to them like a teacher in front of her students. Dad thought that looked like a lot of work, so he just climbed up into the bunk with them. On Friday night Lala spent the night and had a sleepover in Eleanor’s room, she reports that the bed is pretty comfortable! Henry’s big event this week was going on his orientation visit for preschool. Mom stayed the whole time, but he got to meet his teachers and participate with the rest of the class. He was very excited to do all the things he has seen Eleanor do, like hit the playground and use the scooters in the gym. Next week he starts for real!
We had quite the busy weekend filled with fun. On Saturday we went to the zoo for primate day – as usual though the carousel was the big hit. Henry rode on the zebra once and the panda once, which is notable because we have been telling him for the last few weeks that he was going to start school in the zebra class just like Eleanor did, but found out this week that he is instead going to start in the panda class for about a month before moving to the zebra class. Eleanor rode on a monkey both times. When we got home we gave Eleanor and Henry a new bike – but neither was particularly excited about it and I couldn’t get either to ride it. Oh well, hopefully it will become a favorite this summer. Henry was also excited about the tent which we moved into his room to make room for Eleanor’s new beds.
On Sunday we went to “Touch a Truck” and had a blast getting into all the fun trucks. Eleanor enjoyed the first few trucks, but then mostly hung out with Mom watching and eating popcorn. Henry’s stayed interested the whole time, and then road the kids train all by himself. We then stopped over at Lala’s house for a bit, and then took her with us over to Aunt Tia and Uncle Jay’s house for a fun Cinco De Mayo dinner. Jay really outdid himself with some super tasty tacos – Thanks!
