Eleanor and Henry had a busy week capped with a super fun Mother’s Day! We started the week with a trip to the Science and Industry Museum, and then lunch in Mom’s old stomping ground at Medici. The kids had so much fun that they both fell asleep on the way home and Mom stayed in the car in the garage for close to an hour after getting home.
Henry is still getting used to his toddler bed, and had a bit of a fit during nap time. Mom had to put the child lock on the door – and when she went in to check in on him – she couldn’t get the door open. Poor guy had fallen asleep against the door. He took nap part 2 in Mama’s arms.
Henry had his first day of preschool, but our plan of dropping Eleanor off first so Henry could see how brave she is was derailed because Eleanor stayed home from school with a skin rash. Henry was a bit sad at drop off, but Mom pointed out a dump truck that we wanted to play with, and everything went well after that. His teachers reported that he had a great first day.
We had lots of fun outdoor time this week as the summer weather rolled in, although you wouldn’t know it from Eleanor’s outfits. On Saturday she wore a sweater and my ski cap for our whole driveway picnic. I finally got Henry on the bike for a quick cycle or two around the driveway, but no luck with Eleanor yet. I even rigged up a bungee cord seatbelt so Monkey could ride with her, but she ended up putting that to use on the other vehicles.
For Mother’s Day we had a fun breakfast out, and then went to a play/puppet performance of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. I think the kids missed having the live actors – the puppets didn’t hold their interest quite as much.
