Henry’s New Class

Henry started the “Polar Bear” room this week, which is officially in the “Preschool” grades instead of the pre-preschool classes that he had been in, which really double as daycare. He said he was a little nervous about it, but his teachers say he is doing great. I think he is mostly jealous of Eleanor’s JK room, he says that he wants to go there too! Speaking of which, Eleanor has been doing great at JK – she comes home happy each day and is excited to go each morning. However, this was the last week that parents are allowed to walk kids all the way into the classroom. Starting next week, we need to drop them off at the front door. When Eleanor and I talked about this on Friday, she said, “I don’t want to go to school anymore” – so she is a bit nervous about this new drop off policy. Hopefully it goes smoothly.

We had fun this week putting up some fall GelJams – Eleanor got clever and spelled “Henry” out of letters meant to spell Halloween – notice how she made the “R” and “Y”. We built a new crazy fort on Sunday, checking out the igloo configuration. Both kids were pretty excited, but I think the tunnel is still their favorite. Mom caught Eleanor in the act of constructing a tower in order to reach her crunchy cereal snack – I’m sure this isn’t the last crazy contraption that we will find them climbing on over the next 15 years….

Both kids started a new gymnastics class this week. Henry had a ton of fun during his “Mom and Tot” class where Mom gets to help, Eleanor sat on the sidelines for her first class, because at her age moms don’t get to join in the fun and Eleanor didn’t want to do it alone. Hopefully next week she will give it a try – we have to get some use out of her snappy new leotard!
