Eleanor and Henry celebrated Halloween this week with a parade at Eleanor’s school, and then some fun Trick-Or-Treating with friends. Eleanor decided not to wear her costume for the parade – we aren’t quite sure why but we were surprised that they ended up doing the parade outside, as it was actually snowing. She walked along with her book buddy – a 4th grader who comes down once a week and reads stories with the JKers. That night we did some abbreviated Trick-Or-Treating as it was really cold and very windy, with a dash of snow at times. Eleanor and Henry had a blast playing inside at their friends Charlie and Tyler’s house – Henry couldn’t get enough of the trains and Eleanor loved playing firefighter on the basement stairs.
Over the weekend we had some fun family activities. On Saturday we went to a play, “Goldilocks”, which Eleanor seemed to like but Henry was asking “Is this over?” about halfway through and Mom and Dad were wondering how they could possibly drag out the story of the three little bears any more… The play was at the same theater as the “Three Little Pigs” that we saw a few months ago, and both Eleanor and Henry were worried that there would be a “Big Bad Wolf” in this play as well. Saturday afternoon we decorated some popcorn balls courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa – it was a bit tough to convince the kids to use the candy as decoration instead of eating it right away, but they eventually got into it. Eleanor really liked snacking on the popcorn ball once we were done, she even decided to have it as her treat instead of Halloween candy after dinner. On Sunday we went out for a fun breakfast at Eggsperience, and then did some full family watercolor painting. Eleanor especially likes painting, she must have made 10 pictures in the span of 30 minutes.
