The winter finally arrived here, with the first show of the season. The early part of the week was nice enough for some park time, but by Thursday it was definitely time for inside play. We had lots of time for trains and crafts. On Thursday, Eleanor and Henry were watching a video while Mom was cooking dinner, and Eleanor asked Mom, “Is groundpa day real?”. Mom tried a few times to figure out what she was asking, and then asked Eleanor to describe it. Eleanor said, “You know, like a pot that is in the ground”. To which Mom replied, “groundpot day?”, and then Eleanor said yes, they were talking about it in the video. Mom finally figured out that they were talking about Groundhogs day. Can’t really argue with her, it is a pretty weird day when you think about hearing it for the first time. A few minutes later, Henry looked up and said “What is Hancock Day?” Ha! He and Eleanor work the Hancock Tower into pretty much any conversation they can.
On Monday in school, Eleanor had her turn to tell her classmates all about the fun she had with Knuffle Bunny last weekend. She didn’t choose to say any words, but she sat in front of the class while the teacher played a video we had recorded of Eleanor talking about the weekend. Tomorrow the whole family heads into Eleanor’s class for “Family Share” day, where we share some family traditions and some things we like to do as a family. We are looking forward to seeing Eleanor interacting with her classmates!
