Happy Birthday Dad!

Eleanor and Henry celebrated Dad’s birthday this week with a day of fun and a birthday doughnut.

The week started with the whole family heading into Eleanor’s class for “Family of the Week”. We presented three stories about our family, our ski trip tradition, our picture with Santa tradition, and our penchant for puppet shows. We prepared a video of Eleanor discussing everything ahead of time, which we then played in class. Initially Eleanor didn’t want to say anything else, but by then end of the session she was answering a few questions from her classmates and teacher. Then, we handed out popsicle stick puppets for everyone to decorate. It was definitely a good breakthrough for Eleanor’s public speaking and hopefully we can build on that in the coming weeks. Eleanor also started an afterschool class at Kids Science Lab, taking over the spot vacated by tennis lessons. She seems excited about it so far! Henry has been super into trains this week, setting up giant tracks with very long trains. One afternoon while playing trains, he started singing “I like the way you are sitting!” to Mom – which must be some song they sing at school to encourage sitting crisscross. Henry attempted to make his own smoothie creation this week, using yogurt, pretzels, blueberries and circle cheese. He tried it, but then decided “It tastes yucky”. Poor Lala got blamed for the bad outcome, and Henry went over and asked Mom if she would remake the smoothie. Thursday Eleanor’s class took a field trip to the Children’s Museum, and Mom got to go along. It sounded like a great time, although Eleanor reported: “The bus ride was longer than I expected”. True enough – she fell asleep on the ride home. We rounded out the week with a lazy Sunday at home with a taco dinner. Henry didn’t make it out of his PJs all day, which was fine by him!
