It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Eleanor and Henry had a fun week starting to get ready for Christmas. They started the week with a ride on the Santa Train, which both kids loved. Henry wanted to ride it to the “end of the line”. Next, we had a fun night at “Zoo Lights”, where they have a holiday light show, and have a Santa you can visit. The line for Santa was a little long, and with the kids not super excited about sitting on his lap I figured that we could skip it, but they both wanted to wait. Eleanor especially wanted to stay in line, but when it was our turn we didn’t get any smiles from her. The most exciting part of the trip was riding the carousel and the brand new train. The new train is bigger and the train run in better with a loop and a little bridge, and even a station!

On Friday we went down to the Christkindlmarket for our annual visit with Santa. They had a new Santa House this year, which was different, but the kids liked seeing him and also liked getting to pick Dad up from work. After that, it was time for another trip on the Santa Train. Somehow, while getting on the train, Henry’s foot slipped between the train and the platform – but luckily Mom was hanging on to his hand. The excitement proved too much for Henry, and he fell asleep on the ride.

Saturday we did our annual ginger bread houses – and this year the house was pre-constructed! It was a bit of a purchasing mistake, but it actually worked out really well and then kids could just focus on decorating. You have to keep a close eye on Henry or else more of the decorations will end up in his tummy than on the house! We also had a fun visit from Uncle B, and Eleanor showed him the houses and our tree, and he and Henry played trains for a solid hour.

We wrapped up the Christmas prep by opening an Advent Calendar. We were a few days late starting, so we got to open up seven doors all at once.

Some fun Henry-isms for the week:

After making up a new song: “I’m going to write it on my fist so I can get it on my pink phone.” (Mom sometimes writes song names on her wrist to remember to add them to her phone so she can play them for the kids)

After being woken up for morning: “But I still have more sleep!”
