This week’s photos start with a bunch from the Winter Wonderfest visit from last week – but our week started with Henry’s third birthday. Since it fell on a school day, we decided to do our string trail of presents in the afternoon instead of in the morning. Poor Henry started the week sick, and ended up staying home from school anyway. He rallied for the party though, and was quickly caught on to the fact that the string lead to more presents. There was definitely a train theme this year with Henry’s presents, but he was just excited for each new one. Uncle B joined us for the celebration, and he and Henry had lots of fun with the new Lego passenger train. I’m pretty sure right now he could play trains 8 hours a day and still not want to do anything else. The next day Henry was feeling better and got to have his celebration at school a day late.
Mom and Dad got to visit Eleanor’s class on Friday for an “eBook Release Party”. The class put together a series of videos based around their monthly unit on people and pets in the community, and their field trip to a local animal shelter. Eleanor was very excited to have us there, and she enjoyed showing us her classroom and having a few snacks.
We were initially planning on going out to the botanical gardens to see the train exhibit this weekend, but with everyone catching a bit of what Henry had, we decided to just take it easy and have a relaxing weekend at home. We baked sugar cookies, decorated gingerbread people, and put up some of the pictures and decorations that Henry got for his birthday.
Eleanor spent a long time making some Christmas presents for Zapa out of pipe cleaners, cotton balls, beads and buttons. She was very proud of them, and told Mom that one of them was “the Solar System”. It is yet to be seen if Zapa likes playing with them, or just tries to eat then :)
