Take Your Kids to Work Day!

This week Henry and Eleanor celebrated “Take Your Kids to Work Day” by visiting Dad at the office. They had fun swinging in the tire swing, and saying hi to Uncle B and Tia. Then we went down the street for a frozen yogurt treat! Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t very nice this week – so we had lots of indoor activities. Friday the kids hit Little Beans café for fun with their firehouse play-set, and then Mariano’s for some shopping. Eleanor had also been asking for Mom and Henry to drop her off, so this week Monday and Friday we did that, and Eleanor was so excited to show Henry all around her classroom.

On Saturday, we did some science experiments, including water and food coloring, hot-warm-cold bowls, and cleaning pennies with taco sauce! Saturday morning, Eleanor discovered an ad for the Lego “Frozen” set, and was super excited about it. She waited with the book in her hand for an hour just for Mom to come home so she could show her. So, we decided that it was a good time to have the kids take a shopping trip with their own money that they have been saving. We reserved the item online, and then on Sunday we headed over to Target for some shopping. Eleanor was so excited she could barley contain herself, and Henry found a Duplo set that included both a horse (a recent favorite of his) and a brown train car, so he was very pleased with his purchase as well.

In school this week, Eleanor’s class recorded a play reenacting a book they had read. Eleanor choose the role of the monkey (surprise surprise), and it wasn’t a speaking part which she was pleased about. Her role consisted of walking into the set holding a monkey and doing monkey motions with her arms.
