Eleanor and Henry had a fun week leading up to the Memorial Day weekend. Early in the week they invented a new game where they pack their bags and get on a pretend airplane and travel to different countries. This, I think, was inspired by Eleanor’s current school unit in which they are “traveling” to different countries in Africa and learning about each as they go. It was also the last week for Kids Science Lab until next fall – so we got a picture with the teachers they have had for the last year. Friday Eleanor’s class put on an “African Banquet”, where we watched a video they had made, enjoyed some song and dance routines they had learned, and then had buffet lunch with a selection of foods from several African countries. Eleanor didn’t participate much in the singing or dancing, although we did catch her lips mouthing the words to one of the songs. She was pretty proud of the whole event – and super excited to show us what they had been learning about.
We kicked off the holiday weekend with an action packed Saturday which included park time, lunch out, and a trip to an ice cream shop. On Sunday, we did breakfast at Whole Foods, followed by our first family movie event – Frozen. Eleanor was super excited, and Dad has been singing the songs from the movie ever since. Then, Uncle B, Lala, Tia and Uncle Jay came over for some playtime and BBQ. Uncle B got to try out the new tee ball set, and learned the rules that Eleanor and Henry play by, which results in a home run every time :) We finished off the night with some matching pajamas. Monday was a bit rainy, so we did some shrinkey dinks, and watched family movie #2, Cars. Eleanor didn’t love it, and Henry showed only medium interest.
