Dallas!

Continuing our July of travel, Eleanor and Henry visited Dallas this week to see Granny and our aunts, uncles and cousins. It was hott with two t’s, so we spent lots of time playing in the backyard pool and trampoline cooled with the sprinkler. We also had an early birthday celebration for Granny, with a yummy ice cream cake. Aunt Kathy proposed that no one would be able to get cake until they gave Granny a kiss, and Henry wasted no time hopping up and was the first to give her a big kiss on the cheek! When the heat was too much, we retired indoors for some fun crafts like making a paper bag octopus, making and enjoying a yummy snack of mud and worms, and painting our fingernails. Henry and Eleanor were both so proud of their colorful fingernails that they ran around the house showing anyone who would look. Cousin Camille was quite the stylist, and even added glitter with a dedicated nail glitter machine! On Saturday we hit the town and explored a fun museum with a great kids section. All the kids hopped in and made quite an efficient assembly line moving “bricks” up a series of conveyor belts and into shape sorter bins. In the airport on the way home I asked both kids what their favorite part of the trip was – Eleanor said getting to sleep with Camille in her room, poor Henry was too exhausted to give me an answer – he just about fell asleep in his lunch – but I’m pretty sure playing in the pool with his cousins would have been top of the list.

Earlier in the week, Eleanor got a haircut and the kids explored a new play cafe where Henry found a cool train table and Eleanor found dress up dresses for both Anna and Elsa from Frozen – she was pretty excited!
