Eleanor and Henry had a fantastic trip to the beach this week with Grandma, Grandpa, Mackenzie, Jack, Ben, Auntie Susan, Uncle Gabe and Uncle B. Both kids ended up having a lot of fun in the water, which was great to see. Eleanor really liked riding on the inflatable dragon with Mackenzie, and also did some swimming by herself with her arm floaties on. Henry didn’t spend as much time on the rafts, but loved running in and out of the waves and on the second to last day got comfortable enough to swim by himself with his floaties on. We also had lots of fun building and burying in the sand, and made a trip to see the carousel. I asked the kids what their favorite part of the trip was, and Eleanor said “Playing dolls with Mackenzie”, and Henry said “Having a sleepover with Jack and Ben”. While Elanor slept with Mackenzie all week, Henry slept with Mom for the first part of the week. We decided to finally give him a shot at sleeping in the same room as Jack and Ben – and it turned out to be quite the crazy event. They had so much fun that Mom and Dad had to keep coming down to remind them to get some sleep. Finally, after a spilled water bottle necessitated a change of sheets, we had to get a threaten an end to the sleepover. Fortunately, they got right to sleep after that – and Auntie Susan heard Henry say as he woke up the next morning, “Jack, we made it! We had a sleepover!”.
We also had an early birthday celebration for Eleanor, and she was thrilled with her birthday presents. Monkey’s new outfit has been on ever since we got home, and a new Anna doll slept in her own private bed on top of Eleanor’s bed on Sunday night. And first thing Monday morning when Eleanor woke up, she sat looking at her new Lego box just waiting for Mom or Dad to help her build it.
