Eleanor completed her very extended birthday celebration with a party this week for her friends. She decided to have it at Kids Science Lab, and she got to pick the experiments that they did during the party. They ended up doing three different slime experiments, one with diaper gel, and a final demonstration they called “Elephant Toothpaste”. She also choose what to have on her cake, and decided on purple icing with a white poodle. Eleanor really enjoyed the party and we were glad to have lots of friends join us in the celebration. It was also a nice warm up to the school season, which starts tomorrow!
There were lots of events this week getting us ready for school – parents orientation where we got to meet her teachers and the parents of other kids in her class, and “supply drop off” where Eleanor got to go and check out her new classroom and her locker. We even got to meet the class pets, two guinea pigs – Snowball and Brownie. Eleanor was a bit nervous about visiting the classroom, and needed some encouragement both to go in the school front door, and again at her classroom door. Her curiosity quickly won out – and we explored her classroom for about 30 minutes. Can’t wait to see what Monday has in store!
Henry is also in for some changes at school, he moves into a new classroom next week as well! His new class should be a mix of old and new friends, and will add additional curriculum. Henry has been particularly proud of himself the last couple weeks, as he has mastered getting dressed all by himself. Each night for the past week or so he has come running down the hall with a giant smile on his face to show Mom and Dad the pajamas that he got himself into. He still mostly prefers to wear his pajamas down for breakfast, but a few mornings he has also come running to show us the outfit that he picked out and put on all by himself.
