Pumpkin Patch!

Eleanor and Henry started off the week with a fun trip to the pumpkin patch. Eleanor was super excited to revisit the haunted house that she loved last year (so much so that the operator started giving her free turns because she felt bad for me), but alas it wasn’t there this year. She didn’t seem to mind, and the kids had a blast. Both really wanted to ride the dragon roller coaster, and they tried the front car, the back car and the middle car. Eleanor even got bold and raised her hands once after watching a couple other kids do it! They also got to do the pony ride, and Henry remembered to ask for the pony named “Jack” (he’s ridden Jack the last 2 years) and Eleanor got to ride “Thelma”. Both kids fell asleep on the way home for a super cute picture asleep holding their pumpkins.

We ended up book-ending the week with pumpkins, as we visited our local “asphalt pumpkin patch” on Sunday. Eleanor only wanted a baby pumpkin, but Henry, Mom and Dad all picked out one for carving. Henry used the “Mr. Potato Head” decorations so no knives were required :) We finished off Sunday with a trip to the “Midnight Circus” at a local park. We hadn’t been before but our friends recommended it, and it was great. Both Henry and Eleanor really enjoyed it. Eleanor clapped the most for the first rope dancer, and Henry got most excited for the tight rope walkers.

Henry declared on Monday night they he was done with diapers, and wanted to start sleeping without them. So far, he is batting .500 – not a bad start but hopefully that average improves quickly! He has also been really into puzzles recently, on Saturday he did four puzzles in a row all by himself!

Eleanor is starting to show some signs of reading, which is super exciting. She doesn’t like it when Mom or Dad get excited when she reads a word, so we have to “play it cool” and act like it is no big deal. Ha!
