A big week for milestones

Eleanor and Henry had some fun milestones this week. Starting with Eleanor, she has been making great strides towards talking more at school. On Monday at drop-off, one of the other Moms told us that her daughter was just telling her that she and Eleanor were becoming friends because Eleanor was whispering to her. And then at pickup, Eleanor’s teacher told Mom that she talked several times during school that day, at a table in class with several friends, and also during recess. That night Mom and Dad had great fun listening to Eleanor tell us all about it, and how she was excited to be learning more about the kids at school. It was wonderful to hear her talking about sharing ideas with her friends and discovering that they liked some of the same things that she did – and that they liked her ideas! On Tuesday, Eleanor was a bit nervous about moving her sessions into the classroom – and at the end of the day she told Mom that she would just start talking more at school so she didn’t have to do any more sessions. Ha! Eleanor also had two play dates this week which both went well.

Henry has been making big strides at swimming – where he has already moved up to the same level as Eleanor! They now swim side by side and enjoy waving and goofing with each other while they wait for their turns. He also read a word this week – picking up an envelop that had “Amy” written on the front and declaring – “This is for Mom”!

Another fun milestone – we have begun reading chapter books at bedtime – starting with the “Magic Treehouse” series. Both kids are really into it, and don’t seem to have any trouble with the fact that there are very few pictures.
