Eleanor and Henry celebrated Thanksgiving this week with a fun visit to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Unfortunately, Dad got stuck at work, so Mom and the kids went on ahead. Grandma and Grandpa had been hard at work getting ready for the visit, and there were trains to play with and new riding toys to zoom on the driveway with. Henry also got his first taste of cookie dough ice cream – he was a big fan! Mackenzie, Jack and Ben also came over for a visit, which made for a super fun time. Henry did his first sleepover in “the boys” room – and when Mom when to check on them, she found Henry on the floor wrestling with a giant stuffed bear. Ha! Thanksgiving at Great Grandma’s house was great fun – Henry got right into the action with the other boys running and playing chase. Eleanor chose quieter activities, but I noticed in the picture that she managed to be first in line for the cake! We also celebrated Great Grandma’s birthday, and Henry was right up front helping her open each package.
Friday was a bit rainy, so everyone headed out to see a movie, “The Good Dinosaur”. It seemed like a great fit because Eleanor and Henry have been reading a short book based on the movie, and love it. It turned out that the movie has a few more scary parts than the book, and they both decided that it was too scary.
On Sunday we picked out our Christmas tree and put it up and the kids helped put all the ornaments on. It is a little shorter than last year, but I think Mom and Dad are the only ones who noticed.
The week started off with a visit to the Shedd Aquarium. It had been a while since we had been there, but it wasn’t quite the hit we were expecting. They watched a 3D movie, but I think it was a bit too scary for them. The did have a blast in the photo booth!
