Eleanor and Henry enjoyed a week of fun in the sun in Puerto Rico with our family. The pool was a big hit, and is where we spent most of our days – although the window of our hotel room was a close second, we were on the 8th floor and had a fantastic view of planes landing at the airport – they came in almost level with the window on final approach. Both kids were fantastic travelers, they watched Paw Patrol, Frozen and Thomas the Train just about the whole way there and back. They were also great help pushing the luggage through the airport.
This was the first pool trip where we didn’t use arm floaties, and it took a little while but both kids eventually adjusted and had fun in the pool. Pool time was also easier on Mom and Dad, as the kids are strong enough swimmers now that we don’t need to be constantly holding them in the water.
We also had a fun time at the beach – both kids enjoyed building sand castles and playing don’t get your toes wet with the waves. Henry didn’t get too far into the ocean, but Eleanor let me take her out once pretty deep. Unfortunately, my timing was poor and we hit some of the biggest waves of the day, and she was quickly asking to head back to the beach. We did enjoy a nice beach side lunch, and Eleanor tried her first fried mozzarella stick (surprisingly, it wasn’t a big hit). Grandpa’s magic show capped off the trip, and the kids were excited to see some of the tricks that we gave him for his birthday on display.
When we got back home, we had a few days to relax before getting back into our normal routine. On Sunday we say a play based on the book “Dragons Love Tacos” and went to a birthday party at My Gym.
