Eleanor and Henry had a blast visiting Grandma and Grandpa’s house for Easter. Cousins Mackenzie, Jack, Ben, Mahlia and Brooke all came as well to make it a fun full house. We had lots of fun doing crafts and dying Easter eggs, as well as launching some rockets and riding various wheeled machines up and down the driveway. We had just gotten a second scooter so that Eleanor and Henry could both ride at the same time, and it turned out to be perfect timing. Henry took off just as Dad finished putting his helmet on and went, in Dad’s opinion, way too fast down the first section of driveway. Stopping to Dad’s “Slow Down Henry!” calls, he looked back like “what’s wrong?” and from that point on Henry was a fearless speed demon on the scooter. He routinely was the fastest one down the hill and would even peddle with one foot down the hill to go faster. Both kids really improved their scooter skills in just a few days of riding. It was really fun to see all the cousin bonding that went on – on the last night, Easter Eve if you will, Eleanor did a sleepover with Mackenzie, Mahlia and Brooke, and Henry did a sleepover with Jack and Ben. There wasn’t a lot of actual sleeping, but boy did they have fun!
During the week, Eleanor continued her interest in Star Wars, and decided that she wanted to put her hair into a “Princess Leia” style. Mom did her best to recreate the crazy ear buns, and Dad thought the results were quite impressive. However, Eleanor was less impressed and she told Mom, “I took them out, it didn’t look the same.” We also had Eleanor’s teacher conferences, and received a positive assessment with Eleanor showing lots of progress across the board. Her reading is really starting to come along now – and she is getting more and more excited about it.
