Happy Birthday Monkey!

This week we celebrated Monkey’s birthday, which after moving around a bit in the past, seems to have settled on May 1st. Eleanor spent quite a lot of time preparing for the event, including making and wrapping several presents. The rest of the family got into the spirit as well, and Monkey had a wrapped present from each of us. Finally, the day arrived and Eleanor and Henry created a string trail for Monkey while Monkey waited in Henry’s room. Once we were ready, Monkey came down and found and opened her presents. I think she was pretty impressed, although there were no bananas :)

Also this weekend, we took advantage of a gray and rainy day to watch the original Star Wars with the kiddos. It started as just watching the opening scene so that they could see Darth Vader, but when neither one was particularly scared, we just kept watching and ended up finished the whole thing. And, just to keep the streak going, we had a birthday party at Pump it up. This time, it was the nighttime “Glow Party”, where they turn the regular lights off and turn on the black lights. Both Eleanor and Henry got to go, and they spent most of the party playing with each other. On Sunday, we also had a fun visit from Eleanor’s classmate Helen and her brother Andrew, which was super fun.
