Eleanor and Henry celebrated Mother’s Day this week with a super sized surprise breakfast for Mom. Henry helped prepare everything, from making Mom’s espresso to washing the veggies and mixing up the pancake batter. He was very proud of the effort, and led Mom into the kitchen by the arm to unveil the breakfast. We had bagels and lox and cream cheese and chocolate chip pancakes. We spent the rest of the day with a combination of relaxing at home and a quick excursion for lunch and a park. Both kids made pictures for mom, and this year the most impressive parts were their names. Eleanor signed her’s with some fancy curly-queue letters and Henry’s signature was one of the best ones I’ve seen him do so far.
Earlier in the week, Eleanor impressed us all by reading three of the Star Wars little golden books to Lala and Mom. While there was probably some memorization involved, it was still quite an impressive display of how far along her reading has come.
