Eleanor and Henry had quite a busy week, finishing with a super fun trip down to Dallas to visit Granny A, along with cousins Camille and Austin, and Saul, Alden and Simone, and Mimi and Papa, and Aunt Kathy, Uncle Todd, Aunt Vivian, Uncle J and Aunt Shawnee.
First, both Henry and Eleanor had their last day of school. Henry took in a popcorn snack to celebrate his last day, and ended one day earlier than Eleanor so he got to come to Eleanor’s class party the next day. Eleanor showed us her portfolio of work, and we watched the final class video from the last month of classes. Henry choose doughnuts for his last day special treat, and Eleanor choose Sweet Mandy B’s. Eleanor had to go back and order a “do over” because she didn’t like her first choice of a sugar cookie. I think she was perhaps upset that it didn’t taste like ice cream :)
The next day we were off to Dallas for our visit. Turns out, early June is a much better time to visit than late July! We had lots of fun activities like making volcanoes, dirt pie and fun crafts, and lots of water activities with the pool and hose. At first, Henry and Eleanor didn’t want to get sprayed with the hose, but after they watched Camille and Austin take turns soaking each other, they realized it could be fun for all and joined in. We also had a pool at our hotel, and the kids really enjoyed showing their swimming skills off to Mimi and Papa. We finished the trip with a fun cousin picture on the front steps, and everyone wanted to sit next to Simone. Poor Alden was so upset that he cried for most of the shots, so he got a final picture with just Simone.
