Eleanor and Henry had a relaxing first week of summer vacation capped off by a fun weekend visit from Grandma! The kids took the train to the airport to pick her up, and then rode the train back home with her. It turned out to be a hot weekend, so we spread out some park time with some relaxing at home. Eleanor was excited to get some doll time with Grandma, and Henry was most excited about showing Grandma his trains. We capped off the trip with another train ride back to the airport – and I think we finally found Henry’s train limit, as he got a little bored on the last leg of the journey home. Eleanor had already hit her limit and decided to say goodbye to Grandma before she got on the train.
Henry had a cute “Henryism” on the trip to the airport – I was telling him how Mom used to do a lot of flying, sometimes every week, and he said, “Was that before she found you?”. :)
Eleanor has been making great strides with her reading, and we have started having her read a book to us each night. We had a fun time at the bookstore picking out some “just right” books for her, and one of the first ones she picked to read was a Batman book – which threw her some curve balls like “batcomputer” and “Wayne Mansion”, but she nailed “Batmobile” on her first try!
