Eleanor and Henry celebrated the Fourth of July with a visit to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. We had lots of scooter time, and Eleanor even tried out a different ride on toy – mastering the street luge. We also did rockets, and managed to recover three out of five – a new record! We spent one afternoon over at the pool, and both Eleanor and Henry impressed with their swimming skills. They didn’t do the diving board as much as I thought they would, but they loved using the flippers! We also did some boating and both kids were excited to do some tube rides. We also stopped for some swimming, and Eleanor especially enjoyed that. Last year she wouldn’t put her feet down into the sand, and this year it didn’t phase her at all, although she did mention that the bottom felt squishy. Henry stuck to riding on the tube and playing “fishing” with the ski rope. On Friday we went out to dinner with Great Grandma, and then got to take a tour of her new house! Eleanor was very interested in all the pictures Great Grandma had on the walls, while Henry was mostly interested in the bowls of candy that her neighbors set out on their front door shelves :)
We also found time to make and decorate some sugar cookies – Eleanor made an American flag and Chicago flag, and Henry made a Liberty Bell which was mostly just a sprinkle delivery device. Both kiddos were super excited to hang out with their cousins, and also with Buddy! They both wanted to take him for walks and play with him – one of these days they are going to start asking Mom and Dad if they can get a dog!
