Pumpkin Patch

This week Eleanor and Henry headed out to Didier Farms for their annual Fall Festival. Eleanor was disappointed that they didn’t have the funhouse ride, but all in all we had a good time. Henry’s favorite ride was the Mini Himalaya, and Eleanor’s favorite was the Dragon Roller Coaster. Eleanor loved the first loop on the Himalaya, but she was on the outside of the car, and Henry started squishing up next to her, and she was unhappy the rest of the ride. Hopefully I caught the change of expression on the video. We also had fun with the pony rides, a hay ride, and the petting zoo. Both kids loved feeding the animals carrot sticks, and then we got to watch a pig race – a first for Dad too! The winning pigs were named Dale Earnhog and Lindsay Loham. The Emcee of the pig race was quite a jokester!

We also did some pumpkin carving this weekend. Henry used the Mr. Potato Head pieces to make his, and Eleanor and Dad worked together to carve hers. She talked through the design, and we cut out the pieces together.

During the week, both Eleanor and Henry had a chance to try our neighbor’s skateboards, and they were both pretty excited about them. Eleanor especially was into it, and tried all sorts of silly ways to ride it – including headfirst on her tummy! We might have a skateboard on a Christmas list this year! Henry also did a little bulb planting with our neighbor Billy – Henry had a little hand trowel compared to Billy’s full size shovel. I’m not sure if Henry moved much dirt, but Billy was a good sport about it!
