What a week! Eleanor and Henry started the week with a fun Halloween party, finished with an amazing wedding celebration, and in the middle were super excited about the Cubbies winning the World Series.
Both kids were excited about Halloween this year, and we did our trick-or-treating in record time. We hit every house on the block, and were back in plenty of time to sort and count candy and to take a turn being the candy hander-outers. I think they liked giving out the candy as much as they liked getting it, and would see which one could get the candy into a trick-or-treater’s bag first.
Henry was especially excited about the Cubs victory, he went running around the house cheering when we told him about the game the next morning. Eleanor was excited that the Cubs one in “her most special year”, which she defines as the year of her “Golden Birthday”, which is when you turn the same age as the day of the month of your birthday.
Friday was spirit day at school, Henry was excited to wear his school shirt, and Eleanor reluctantly agreed to join in. They both enjoyed the day, as the school let them watch some of the Cubs victory parade during the day. It was also Monkey’s first visit to first grade – Eleanor’s class earned a movie and they were allowed to bring in a stuffed friend to watch the movie with them. It was Charlotte’s Web, which they just finished reading together as a class.
Finishing out the week was the celebration for Uncle B and Aunt Breanne’s wedding. Both kiddos were very excited for the party and to see cousins and family. Henry spent the night running around in a constant state of over-stimulation, while Eleanor was more reserved and enjoyed hanging out with her cousins, and watching the wedding video. They both enjoyed getting in some moves on the dance floor, and staying up super late.
